The Clear Creek Amana Community School District Board approved a slate of purchases, service agreements and handbook updates on Thursday and moved a small Whitetail Lane neighborhood into the Tiffin Elementary and Oak Hill attendance area.
On a consent‑style series of action items the board voted to approve a $137,725 iPad purchase from Apple and continued participation in an equipment breakdown insurance program with additional HVAC coverage for $624,177. The board also approved a contract with Multi Vista for construction‑services support on the high‑ and middle‑school projects and approved continuing curriculum purchases, including a three‑year Illustrative Math contract to secure savings for the coming school year.
The board approved several 2026‑27 service agreements with Grant Wood AEA covering special education services, English‑learner consultation, school improvement consultation and challenging‑behavior/autism supports. A Student Farm account transfer of $7,463.30 was approved, and the board authorized purchase of a van from Auto Mart for $32,895; staff said the van purchase will be funded from next year’s vehicle replacement (’26‑’27) funds and follow the planned sale/retirement of older mini buses.
Board members debated an attendance‑boundary adjustment for a Whitetail Lane neighborhood. One board member urged extending an easterly boundary to Jasper Avenue to anticipate future development; staff and other members said the current motion formalizes what is already happening and that broader reconfigurations should wait for updated projections. The board approved the Whitetail Lane change and district staff said it will mail letters to affected households explaining the change.
The board also approved a package of handbooks for 2026‑27 (substitute, preschool, elementary, middle and high school) and accepted a set of policy revisions covering areas including equal educational opportunity, open meetings, closed sessions, public complaints, administrative duties/evaluations, succession of authority and graduation/commencement requirements. Board members discussed a discrepancy between commencement (54 credits to walk) and the diploma requirement (56 credits) and staff clarified that students may walk with 54 credits and then complete the remaining credits, for example through summer school, to receive a diploma.
Most motions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; specific roll‑call tallies were not read into the record during the meeting. The board scheduled follow‑up topics and said the next meeting is July 15.
Quotes from the meeting illustrate the tone: "All those in favor? Aye," the chair said repeatedly during the consent agenda, and staff summarized vehicle planning as "the van is gonna fill a void of three mini buses" during discussion of transportation replacements.
Items approved (not exhaustive): iPad purchase ($137,725); equipment breakdown program with HVAC coverage ($624,177); Multi Vista construction contract; service agreements with Grant Wood AEA for 2026‑27; curriculum purchases; purchase of a van ($32,895); Student Farm account transfer ($7,463.30); attendance boundary adjustment for Whitetail Lane; multiple handbooks and policy revisions.
The district board then moved to discussion items and received the facilities master plan presentation from the ad hoc committee.
