The Town of Babylon Rental Board on July 8 extended action on the renewal application for 1195 Great Neck Road in Copiague to July 22, after board members said the owner must remove exterior debris and address vehicle registration issues.
Applicant Santi Caponea was sworn and confirmed he had signed the town’s renewal terms and conditions. Board member Mike Murray told Caponea inspectors found tires, pallets and two vehicles on the property and recommended all debris be removed and that any vehicles be properly inspected and registered.
Murray said an inspector had visited the site earlier in the day and the items needed to be corrected before a permit would be issued; the board agreed to send the inspector back for verification. After Murray moved to extend the matter, Carla Bryant seconded the motion and the board voted in favor.
The extension gives Caponea until July 22 to remedy the cited exterior issues; the board said the permit will be issued only after an inspection confirms the property meets the town’s standards. If the violations persist or information submitted to the board is later found inaccurate, the board cautioned it could void previously granted approvals.
The board followed established hearing procedure: applicants present first, board questions follow, then public comment, with applicants called back to respond to any outstanding concerns. The renewal remains open pending the inspection results on or before July 22.
