Box Butte County planning commission moves regular meetings to third Monday, sets Jan. public meetings for comprehensive plan survey

The commission, meeting at the Box Butte County Courthouse in Alliance, approved an amendment to Article IV Section I to read: "Meetings will be held on the third Monday of each month, at 7:00 p.m. at the Box Butte County Courthouse. Alternate dates may be set by Chair as needed." The motion to adopt the amendment was made by Rich Smith and seconded by Barbara Raben; the vote was 4-0 in favor.
Vice Chairperson Trent Benzel called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and acknowledged that the meeting would follow the Open Meetings Act, which was posted on the north wall of the county board room. Commission members Trent Benzel (vice chairperson), Barbara Raben (secretary), Rich Smith and Jerry Underwood were present; Chairperson Marilyn Lore, Josh Foster and Tonya Mayer were absent. Staff in attendance included Mike Johnson, Box Butte County zoning administrator; Marissa Curtiss, Box Butte County attorney; and Commissioner Michael Sautter.
Underwood moved to accept the meeting agenda, seconded by Smith; that motion carried on a 4-0 vote. Underwood also moved to approve the Nov. 25, 2024 minutes; Raben seconded and the minutes were approved unanimously.
As Old Business the commission recorded a Sun Daisy update and set two public meeting dates for the county's comprehensive plan survey: Jan. 27, 2025 in Alliance and Jan. 28, 2025 in Hemingford at the Mobius Conference Room. No separate roll-call vote for those dates was recorded in the meeting minutes beyond the motions referenced above.
The meeting concluded when Underwood moved to adjourn, Smith seconded, and Vice Chairperson Benzel adjourned the session at 7:55 p.m.
Next steps: the commission will hold public meetings on Jan. 27 and Jan. 28, 2025 as scheduled; additional outreach or agenda materials were not specified in the meeting record.
