WBPA reports Walkersville Branch Library won Arc of Frederick County community involvement award

Bob Sussman, representing the Walkersville Business and Professional Association, told the Economic Development Commission on April 27 that the Walkersville Branch Team and Frederick County Public Library received the community involvement award from the Arc of Frederick County.
Sussman read program details into the record, saying the library provides twice-monthly programming for adults with developmental disabilities that regularly draws between “75 to a 100 attendees from all over the county region.” He said the program’s success led the library to replicate it at other Frederick County Public Library locations.
Sussman invited the commission and the public to recognize the Walkersville library for its outreach and said the WBPA will present a longer report at the next Walkersville Town Meeting. No additional action or funding related to the award was discussed at the EDC meeting.
The announcement was included as part of routine reports near the close of the EDC meeting; staff confirmed the library will present to the Town at a future date.
