At the March 25 Walkersville Town Meeting commissioners introduced Ordinance 2026‑01, the town zoning‑map ordinance, and voted to schedule a future public hearing.
"Motion by Commissioner Wayne, seconded by Commissioner Yoder, to introduce ordinance number 2026‑01," the chair recorded; the motion passed on a voice vote read as 4–0 in favor. The chair said that, if approved as an introduction, staff would schedule the hearing and attempt to align the date with commissioner availability.
Earlier in the meeting the chair read a summary of a March 11 closed session held to discuss potential litigation regarding the town zoning map; the chair said that meeting was closed pursuant to "government article 3305 b 8." The reading of the closed‑session summary was entered into the March 25 public record prior to the ordinance introduction.
Next steps: staff will schedule the public hearing for Ordinance 2026‑01 and notify the public of the hearing date and materials. Commissioners did not take a final vote on the ordinance itself on March 25; the meeting recorded only its introduction.
(Ordinance number as presented in the public record: 2026‑01.)
