At its meeting on Nov. 20, 2025, the Springfield Planning Board authorized Chair Mike Howard and member Jen Roberts to visit a property and contact the short-term rental owner identified in the minutes as Tyler Rowley after resident Sandy Burke of Main Street raised concerns about light trespass from an adjacent rental. The motion to authorize the site visit and outreach was made by Member John Trachy, seconded by Don Hill and recorded as passing unanimously.
Board members also reviewed an updated Short-term Rental Application and Instructions prepared by Zoning Coordinator Tim Bray and former member Dan Saulnier. After suggested edits, Member John Trachy moved to conditionally approve the updated application and instructions, with Don Hill seconding; the board approved the conditional approval and directed that final edits and formal approval occur at the next meeting. The minutes record that the approval was “subject to edits” and that final sign-off will be on the next agenda.
The short-term rental discussion occurred as part of broader zoning work the board plans to present at Town Meeting 2026. The board scheduled further review of short-term rental language and other zoning amendments at its next regular meeting on Dec. 4, 2025.
