Town board approves Luecke land split and grants conditional use permit for Powers Service Center

At its April 9 meeting the Town of Townsend board approved two land-use items forwarded by the Planning & Zoning Commission.
Commissioner Tim McGuire summarized a proposal by the Luecke family to divide parcel #042-29290131462 on Birchwood Lane into a one-acre Lot 1 and a two-acre Lot 2, with two outlots across the road that Oconto County had designated unbuildable. The board approved both the land division and rezoning of Lot 1 from Rural Residential to Residential Single Family (R1) (motion by Chuck DeMoulin, seconded by Willie Evans). McGuire said the proposal meets local ordinance standards and aligns with the town comprehensive plan.
The board also approved a conditional use permit for Powers Service Center (parcel #042-232314131M) at 17833 State Highway 32 to allow overflow boat storage on a General Commercial lot, with a 6-foot cyclone fence and gravel surfacing. Planning & Zoning recommended that any current or future property owner seeking structural changes return to the Town Planning & Zoning Board for review prior to Oconto County Board of Adjustment action. During public comment, resident Vicki Aderholdt raised concerns about parking on Highway 32 during special events and asked whether parking could be restricted on the west side because of sight-line issues from nearby residences.
