Town board approves two new buoys and introduces wake-enhancement restriction ordinance

On April 9 the Town of Townsend board approved an amendment to the boating ordinance to add two buoys in McCaslin Brook and introduced a separate proposed ordinance to restrict artificially enhanced wakes.
Supervisor Chuck DeMoulin moved to amend Boating Ordinance No. 197 (1-97) to add Buoy #10 and Buoy #11 with coordinates provided; the motion passed. Later in the meeting the board discussed a proposed Ordinance 01-2024 that would restrict artificially enhanced wakes on all lakes within the town. DeMoulin said he had received many emails supporting restrictions. The town will send the proposed ordinance to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for their review and any required approvals.
Planning & Zoning commissioner Tim McGuire noted the Archibald Lake Association plans to bring a related amendment at a future meeting.
