Council approves Choice 1 engineering for Fairfield Pike storm‑sewer work ahead of sidewalk project

Burns said separating storm‑sewer engineering from the sidewalk procurement will allow the village to go to bid on the storm work and reduce the scope and complexity of a future sidewalk bid. He noted the underpass on the bike path has been flooding and that the proposed storm improvements would mitigate that issue.
Why it matters: Completing stormwater work is a prerequisite for durable sidewalk construction in this corridor and may make a sidewalk grant or bid more competitive and affordable. The OPWC funding window prompted staff to begin engineering now.
