Treasurer Karen DeLap presented the Treasurer’s report to the Vernon County Finance Committee on May 19, reporting total cash on hand of $28,929,332.89 as of April 30, receipts of $2,826,833.59, total delinquent property taxes of $908,814.34 and sales tax received to date of $219,655.15.
DeLap told the committee that Corp Counsel has put the in-rem process on hold because of changes in the law and that a meeting is scheduled next week to discuss next steps. DeLap noted she would like Swayne to see the current year’s in-rem process through even though she has terminated her corp counsel contract.
Finance Director Anne Lockyer presented unaudited period-four financials and reported that auditors are finishing VM & VA work and should have a final report before the next committee meeting. Committee members asked why several budgets are at 45% when the fiscal year is only two months past mid-year and requested more information to explain the variance.
The committee also reviewed updates to the 2022–2025 Ho-Chunk project. The meeting adjourned at 10:55 a.m.; the committee set its next monthly meeting for June 16 at 9:30 a.m. in the Vernon County Board Room.
