Little Brook Lane: The board approved, on first reading, removing a 0.16-mile end segment from the county road list. The resolution also instructs the county mayor to quitclaim a 0.36‑acre parcel (the tract that contains the removed portion) to the requesting landowner, John T. Wells. The remaining 0.06 mile of Little Brook Lane will remain on the county road list and under county maintenance. The Road Committee recommended the change after receiving a request from Mr. Wells.
Jearoldstown Access: Commissioners voted to add a 1,200-foot road that parallels Interstate 81 and serves as a state-built access road to private property. County Attorney Roger Woolsey explained that Greene County adopted a 1971 resolution when I‑81 was built agreeing to accept and maintain interstate access roads the state installed. Staff and the road committee recommended adding the access road to the official county road list so property owners can secure needed road frontage for building permits. The vote on the addition was recorded in roll call and passed as a first reading.
Why it matters: Adding or removing roads from the official county list affects who is responsible for maintenance and whether properties have legal frontage needed to obtain building permits.
