Greene County approves nearly $47,600 for EMS training, equipment from supplemental and sale proceeds

Greene County commissioners authorized two appropriations for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) on April 20: $23,860 from an EMS training supplement and $23,735 from the sale of county surplus property, for a combined total of $47,595.
Resolution C authorized a $23,860 in-service training supplement to be recorded as revenue to account 46330 and appropriated into EMS payroll and benefit accounts (line items include in-service training, Social Security, pension and employer Medicare). Resolution D authorized $23,735 in proceeds from the sale of surplus equipment be recorded as revenue to account 44530 and appropriated to motor vehicle purchases (EMS account 718).
Both appropriations were approved by roll-call vote; county staff told the Commission the training supplement is intended for required in-service training and the sale proceeds will be applied toward EMS vehicle needs.
Why it matters: The moves free up general fund dollars while ensuring EMS crews can meet training requirements and replace or maintain ambulances and response vehicles.
Next steps: EMS director will oversee allocation of the training funds and vehicle purchase and provide the Budget & Finance Committee with expenditure accounting in the coming months.
