The Miami Lakes Veterans Committee confirmed the Reindeer Run will remain scheduled for Dec. 12 and authorized use of a secondary coordinator team to run the event if the primary coordinator cannot attend.
Members discussed coordinator Ruben's availability and whether a secondary team could handle the event. Committee members noted the secondary team had supported prior events and that training a secondary team would help ensure continuity. "So I make a motion where you keep the reindeer run on 12:12 and use the secondary race coordinator team," one member said, and the motion passed by voice vote.
The committee also created a Reindeer Run subcommittee and several volunteers stepped forward to help plan and manage the event; the group agreed to hold an initial planning meeting at 6:00 a.m. on July 2 (a short meeting scheduled immediately before the next regular meeting). Members emphasized training new staff and succession planning so future events are not dependent on a single coordinator.
The committee did not alter the event start time or routes at the meeting; those operational decisions were left to the subcommittee and event coordinators.
