Taconic Hills board approves multiple contracts, educational placements and budget authorizations

The board approved contracts for fire-security and sound systems, risk-management services, Siemens Industry for HVAC control services, Trane Technologies for chiller preventive maintenance, a school resource officer contract with the Columbia County Sheriff's Department, Gustav Communications for transportation radio systems, and legal services from two law firms. The chair read the list of vendors and the board approved the contracts by voice vote.
The board also approved educational services contracts for the 2026–27 fiscal year, covering July–August providers and September–June placements with organizations named in the packet (including Cardinal Hayes, Center for Disability Services, Neil Hellerman School and Wildwood School). Motions to approve these placements were carried.
Procurement votes included bid awards for dairy products (Hudson Valley Fresh Dairy), custodial supplies, garbage removal, septic services, and elevator hydraulic maintenance. The board accepted several small donations and approved disposal of outdated elementary books.
On finance, the board approved a revised corrective action plan for the 2024–25 audit and authorized the board to transfer an amount to district reserve funds from unassigned fund balance in excess of the statutory 4% limit as of 06/30/2026; the final amount and allocations will be determined after the books are closed. The administration explained the authorization enables the board to avoid carrying excess fund balance into the next school year.
