Hastings archery team grows, earns national trips and podium finishes

Coach Ryan Renicki told the board that Hastings High School’s archery program doubled participation in its second season and achieved several competitive milestones.
"The high school team grew from 21 archers in its inaugural season to 30 archers in its 2nd season," Renicki said, later noting the team shot at nationals in Louisville, Ky., and earned its first team podium finish at the Beacon tournament in Roseville.
Student athletes Tegan Asher, Jack Myrie and Lily Shaleen described personal growth, team bonding and the sport’s mental‑skills emphasis. Asher, a team captain, said archery taught her focus and mindset training that translated to school performance. Lily Shaleen, a sophomore who holds a school bullseye record, said archery has been "part of who I am" since elementary school.
Board members congratulated the team, presented medallions and thanked coaches and volunteers who supported the program’s rapid expansion.
No action was required; the item was a community spotlight, and the board thanked the students and coaches for their presentation.
