Board names Shelby Johnson as new secondary principal

The Mount Clemens Community School District Board of Education approved the appointment of Shelby Johnson as secondary principal during its June meeting.
Superintendent Roper read Johnson’s qualifications into the record, noting more than 40 years in education, prior roles as teacher, instructional coach and principal, advanced degrees including educational leadership credentials and doctoral studies. The superintendent said Johnson has experience increasing student participation in assessment programs and improving school culture.
Board member Mr. Rickman moved to approve the hire and Miss Hammond seconded; the motion carried on a unanimous roll-call vote. Johnson, present at the meeting, said he was "humbled and honored to serve the community" and briefly thanked the board and colleagues.
The board noted that hiring steps and onboarding will be handled by Human Resources and that administrative paperwork will follow standard district procedures.
