Sugar Hill selectmen raise nonresident Meetinghouse rental to $1,000, schedule budget hearing

At their Jan. 27 meeting, Sugar Hill selectmen voted to raise the Meetinghouse nonresident rental fee to $1,000 and scheduled the 2025 budget hearing for Feb. 3. They also signed several routine contracts and approved participation in a regional hazardous-waste program.
Selectman Chris Ellms moved and Selectman Margo Connors seconded a motion to raise the nonresident use fee for the Sugar Hill Meetinghouse to $1,000; the motion passed unanimously at the Selectmen's meeting on Jan. 27, 2025. Town Administrator Jennifer Gaudette announced the 2025 budget hearing will be held Monday, Feb. 3, 2025 at 6 p.m.
The board signed the annual tax mapping contract with Cartographic Associates and approved Sugar Hill's participation in the Pemi Baker Household Hazardous Waste Program. The minutes show a temporary certificate of occupancy was issued to Clark and Maureen Houx for a property at 349 Hadley Road; the board also received an update on two New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (DES) cases in town.
The Selectmen reviewed the town's building rental rates (noted as last updated in 2011) and instructed Gaudette to update the building permit fee schedule to add separate lines for renovations and additions. The board reviewed a quote from Lincoln Sign Company for two welcome signs at both ends of Main Street (approximate cost $15,000) and decided not to include sign funding in the 2025 budget; Selectman Margo Connors was directed to pursue grant funding and private donations instead.
The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services will hold a water-testing workshop at the Sugar Hill Meetinghouse on March 25; details will be published in the town newsletter and on the town website. The board also received the 2024 Equalization Ratio from the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration: town equalization ratio 99% with a median ratio of 100.9%.
