Surry selectmen post Pond Road East site meeting; town logs culvert and road maintenance needs

The Surry selectmen posted a site meeting for Pond Road East on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., saying selectmen, Conservation Committee members, site workers and an engineer will attend to review on-site issues.
The meeting notice was read at the July 15 selectmen’s meeting. Selectman Steve Goldsmith said the posted visit is intended to bring town officials and technical staff to the site to assess stormwater and other site details before any further action is taken. The selectmen also reviewed materials in the Pond Road folder in preparation for that visit.
During the same session, selectmen documented ongoing road maintenance on Old Walpole Road. Jay Croteau said he met with Durwin Clark at culvert #3; the exit side of the culvert has been cleaned and the entry side will require follow-up to unplug and fully restore flow. Minutes also record that Durwin Clark removed a nearby dirt pile on Old Walpole Road and that Profaizer later reported a pothole at the top of the S curve on Old Walpole Road and a leaning tree affecting wires, which was reported to Consolidated.
Bruce Smith told the board he continues to work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on E911 addressing for the Surry Dam site; he provided site address details for the toll booth and parking lot and corrected an invalid address for another property. The selectmen’s records note that Mark Gross lots must be signed, approved and recorded before MS‑1 is submitted.
The July 25 site meeting is intended to allow the selectmen and technical representatives to inspect conditions firsthand and determine any follow-up actions or permit conditions based on that on-site review.
