Sugar Hill selectmen met Jan. 13 with Town Administrator Jennifer Gaudette to review Tri‑Town 2025 transfer station and recreation budgets, approve amended meeting minutes and schedule follow-up meetings with town committees and state representatives.
The board — Selectman Dick Bielefield, Selectman Chris Ellms and Selectman Margo Connors — reported they convened in Franconia at 4:00 p.m. for a Tri‑Town session that examined the transfer station and recreation budgets by line item. The selectmen asked Road Agent Doug Glover to inspect water and safety issues behind the containers and said they would like the apron in front of the transfer station and the area behind the containers paved in the future. The recreation committee and the recreation director answered questions about the proposed spending.
Selectman Dick Bielefield moved to approve the amended minutes of Jan. 6, 2025; Selectman Chris Ellms seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The minutes were corrected to change "ARPA" to "AARP." The board also approved use of the Meetinghouse for a wedding on April 5, 2025.
Gaudette told the board she completed the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses and the Boundary and Annexation Survey annual response form. She reported the town received one additional short‑term rental application and that another homeowner plans to submit paperwork.
The board extended invitations to Sugar Hill’s three state representatives to meet with the town this year; the transcript records that "Representative Beaulier" is scheduled to come March 24 at 5:30 p.m. and will hold a constituent meeting. The selectmen noted they have concerns about several new bills, including proposed changes to the Right to Know Law.
The Road Committee is scheduled to meet with the board the following week at 5:30 p.m. to review current road‑repair funding and future needs. The board announced town offices will be closed and the board will not meet on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025. Selectman Chris Ellms moved to adjourn; Selectman Margo Connors seconded and the meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m. The next regular meeting is Jan. 27, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the Crapo Building.
