Selectboard reviews sewer ordinance draft, approves asbestos removal at Bog Road property and changes to Rollin Baldwin fund review

At the Nov. 18 meeting, staff member Suzanne Goulet updated the Stratford Selectboard on several administrative items the board will consider in coming weeks.
Goulet said Selectman Clayton Macdonald completed groundwork on a new sewer ordinance and submitted materials to CES; updated sewer regulations have been drafted and are before the board for review. She noted the town may need to expose and inspect galvanized pipes if CES requests further review.
Goulet reported asbestos contamination at a Bog Road residence and said the town will remove the metal roofing to allow a vendor to tear down the house at a discounted price. The board approved removal to keep toxic material removal safe and to avoid additional costs.
The board approved a change to how the Rollin Baldwin fund is reviewed: instead of monthly use, the town will formally review requests twice a year in June and November while retaining the option to review urgent cases as needed. Goulet added that the town has drafted a Right to Know policy addressing online content after a recent YouTube incident; that policy remains in draft form for future review.
Goulet also said Coos Advisors, the town's contracted accountants, have increased annual fees; she plans outreach next year to seek a lower-cost contract.
No ordinance or policy was finalized at this meeting; the sewer ordinance and Right to Know policy were described as ongoing items to return for further discussion.
