Selectboard approves security buzzer, rejects excavator rentals; discusses sewer meters and asbestos demolition estimate

The board voted 3-0 to approve an estimate from Lufkin to install a security buzzer on the town-hall door. The minutes record a unanimous approval to proceed with that estimate. The board also voted against allowing the town's excavator to be rented out; members cited the potential for equipment damage, injuries, and increased insurance costs as reasons for blocking rentals.
On personnel and procurement, the road agent advertisement drew no applicants; the board agreed to consider changing the road agent from an employee position to a contract role and asked any candidates to attend the Nov. 18 meeting. Selectman Charlie Goulet asked that Ryan move large rocks on Bridge Street as a road-maintenance task.
Board members noted an asbestos issue at 561 Bog Road and said they are seeking estimates to have the building torn down due to asbestos; the estimate process is ongoing and will be discussed at a future meeting. The Selectboard approved the Health Officer nomination for Jim Lee 3-0 and signed voting and utility warrants. The manifests for Oct. 21 and Oct. 28, 2024, were approved and the Selectman minutes for Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 were approved as recorded.
A public reminder was given that a PILOT Solar meeting is scheduled for Dec. 11 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
