Canaan Fire Commission approves minutes, receives treasurer’s report and OKs $530 in training bills

The Canaan Fire Commission convened at 5:08 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Falls Village Volunteer Fire Department firehouse and approved the minutes of its Jan. 14, 2026 regular meeting. Chairman Dave Seney called the meeting to order.
Commissioners unanimously voted to receive the treasurer’s report after a motion by Tim Downs, seconded by Larry Bulson. The commission then reviewed a list of bills for approval, which showed a $430 charge for a State of Connecticut fire service instructor and three $35 entries for firefighter and hazmat fees, totaling $530. A motion to pay the bills, made by Bulson and seconded by Downs, carried unanimously.
Under old business, members were told several nonfunctional hydrants still need removal. The commission reported that radios and pagers have been repaired and are back in service.
The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m. on a motion by Secretary Hazel K. McGuire, seconded by Bulson. The minutes were signed and submitted by McGuire.
