The Select Board received an update that the Lafayette Recreation Committee and the Franconia town attorney have reworded the Lafayette Recreation Expendable Trust Fund (established 2017) with proposed changes the committee will present to voters at the March town meeting.
Under the proposed wording the recreation committee majority would be able to authorize expenditures, and the Select Board would be named as agents to expend funds in support of recreational programs and events, maintenance and improvement of facilities and grounds, and purchase of equipment and vehicles to support recreation activities. The board received the committee’s update and the draft language as correspondence; no formal vote on the language was recorded in the meeting transcript.
The change alters the trust’s governance and spending authority and will be decided by town voters at the upcoming town meeting.
