The Town of Stratford will close a portion of Main Street for replacement of railroad tracks from Oct. 28 through Nov. 1, 2024, the selectboard was told at its Oct. 7 meeting.
Suzanne Goulet reported the schedule and said the closure will be required while crews replace the tracks. She also said town maintenance will mow dry hydrants and place gravel near roads as part of routine work connected to fall upkeep. Fall road grading was discussed, but the minutes do not record a firm schedule; the board said grading would be done "as soon as possible."
Suzanne also noted the board will send a reminder to a resident identified as Laney to move a truck and car parked at the edge of a hill/road for safety ahead of these maintenance activities. The minutes do not specify detour routes or which department is managing the railroad work.
The same meeting recorded routine administrative items including town-hall reservations and the approval of several signed documents. The minutes do not show public-comment objections or questions about the closure timeline.
