The Edgecombe County Board of Commissioners approved two street‑naming requests on July 6 after short presentations and a unanimous planning board recommendation in both cases.
Thaddeus and Lisa Winstead asked to name their driveway JT Winstead Lane in memory of their son; the planning board recommended approval and the commissioners approved the request after a brief exchange about maintenance responsibility. The Winsteads said the lane is located off Bass Chapel Road and noted the request was intended as a family memorial.
Separately, FHG Properties LLC requested the name Quiet Waters Lane for a driveway off Melton Road; planning and technical review raised no objections (environmental health noted a septic permit was approved) and the board approved the naming.
What happens next: staff will process the naming requests and update county maps and addressing information with the county planning and addressing staff.
