The Temple Planning Board reviewed updates to a proposed solar ordinance at its Jan. 6 meeting, focusing on consistency between definitions, stormwater language and application requirements.
Christine Robidoux, vice chair, explained that the draft incorporates new definitions borrowed from other municipalities and that the Primary Use section duplicates stormwater language so long as the two related subsections remain consistent. She told the board that Section A.5 should serve to define standards while Section B.2 should list the application materials to be submitted. The board agreed the draft’s resources footnote on page 9—intended only as an internal drafting aid—should be removed, and Robidoux said she will correct inconsistent fonts in the document.
Bill Ezell, the Select Board’s ex officio member, noted that Avitar has developed a solar checklist that might inform the town’s application requirements. Robidoux said she has communicated with town counsel and requested that the amendments be finalized by Feb. 3 so the board can proceed with the next steps in the ordinance process.
The board did not take a final vote on the ordinance at the meeting; members continued to refine language and set the internal deadline for completion. The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 20 at Temple Town Hall.
