Chief McTague told the Temple-Greenville Police Joint Board on Jan. 5, 2026 that the Attorney General’s office has approved the Intermunicipal Agreement governing police services; the agreement follows a three-year schedule and is effective through 2028. He said the department is on track with its budget and expects to return about $47,000 to the town.
Board members discussed a planned 2026 cruiser replacement and how the cost will be apportioned between Temple and Greenville. Chief McTague explained the department retains cruisers for eight years; the 2018 cruiser will be downgraded to serve as the detail cruiser and the current sedan detail cruiser will be disposed of.
The chief also reported a dispatch computer crash that prevented recovery of some statistics intended for the town report, saying the statistics this year will be based on what the department can provide because not all calls go through dispatch. The meeting minutes noted the Annual Fun Run on Jan. 1 was well attended and concluded with no issues.
The board scheduled its next meeting for Feb. 2, 2026, at 5 p.m. in Greenville. Minutes were taken by Deb Morrison.
