Temple-Greenville police board raises officer detail pay to $65 an hour

The Temple-Greenville Police Joint Board voted on Jan. 5, 2026 to raise officer detail pay from $55 per hour to $65 per hour and to increase the cruiser detail rate from $30 per hour to $35 per hour, effective immediately. The change was proposed by Chief McTague as part of a comparison of rates charged by neighboring departments.
Ken Caisse moved to accept the change in detail rates; Charles Buttrick seconded. The board approved the motion at the meeting and the adjustment was made effective immediately. The minutes record that Deb Morrison will send a copy of the draft minutes to Tara Sousa on Friday.
Chief McTague said the combined officer and cruiser rate of $100 per hour would put the department in line with other local agencies. The board did not record individual roll-call votes in the minutes; the text states the motion passed.
