Surry selectmen approve minutes, sign valuation and tax paperwork

The board signed the town’s MS-1 summary inventory of valuation and the timber tax warrant, and approved an abatement for Richard Mienkowski for $85.50 (lot 5b-28-32). Steve Goldsmith moved to accept the minutes of Aug. 12, 2024; Jay Croteau seconded and the board agreed. Ron Profaizer moved to accept the Aug. 19, 2024 minutes as amended; Steve Goldsmith seconded and the minutes were accepted. Jay Croteau later moved to adjourn; Steve Goldsmith seconded and the meeting ended at 9:15 p.m.
The town recorded several building-permit payments during the meeting: a $25 payment (check #5332) for Davis at 46 Pond Rd, permit #1681; $121.60 (check #6523) from Matt Goodwin, 608 Old Walpole Rd., for barn permit #1683; and $25 (check #330) from Nancy Callender for garage permit #1684. The minutes note that building permit #1685 from Greg Taylor (installation of three shipping containers for storage) is due.
Selectmen also recorded receipt of check #475980 from Rymes as a credit toward library propane. The board noted that a grant for Jaws of Life equipment falls under the general appropriation and therefore does not require a separate public meeting to accept the funds. The minutes record that a new town email account is up and running and that Durwin Clark will undertake roadside trimming this week using a rented mower.
