Selectman Jay Croteau said the board will arrange an inspection after resident John Davis warned that recent block removal at the Lower Pond Road culvert has created siltation concerns and could leave the town with a single-lane road. Davis told the selectmen a coffer dam is essential and warned against doing work in the active waterway.
Croteau said he would contact contractor Mike Edwards to determine whether Edwards can use a camera to scope the inside of the culvert. The minutes note that contractor David Brooks declined to bid on the work. Croteau also said he will contact Kevin Thatcher for engineering recommendations about a coffer dam.
The selectmen did not authorize construction in the meeting minutes; the record shows only that they assigned follow-up tasks to obtain an internal inspection and engineering guidance before any in-water work would be considered. The town did not record a formal timeline for the inspection or an awarded contract in the minutes.
The matter will return for further action once the selectmen have the results of the scoping work and engineering advice.
