Shell Lake council approves tennis court screening, annual liquor licenses and routine vouchers

The Shell Lake City Council approved a series of routine motions and permits during its June 8 meeting, including a small capital purchase for tennis court screening, adoption of the city’s CMAR report for 2025 and the city’s annual liquor and beer/wine licenses for 2026–2027.
Mayor Rowie Hansberger called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and Councilmember Terry Severson moved to approve the May 11 minutes; Rob Anderson seconded and the motion carried unanimously among councilmembers present.
On a related facilities item, Councilmember Tom Rasmussen moved and Terry Severson seconded acceptance of DF Supply, Inc.’s bid of $1,367.95 for screening around the tennis court fencing, with an allowance of up to 20% overage for the city if the vendor charges more for the chosen green color. The cost will come from the Tennis Court Upkeep account; the roll-call vote recorded all councilmembers present in favor and the motion passed.
Financial business included approval of vouchers numbered 438–626. Steve Byrd moved to approve the vouchers; Mike Andrews seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The council also adopted Resolution #4-2026, the Compliance Maintenance (CMAR) Report for 2025, on a motion by Mike Andrews and second by Ken Schultz. The council voted unanimously to adopt the resolution.
The council approved a street-use permit for the Chamber of Commerce’s July 3 street dance on a motion by Ken Schultz, seconded by Dan Harrington; that motion carried unanimously.
Rob Anderson moved, with Mike Andrews seconding, to approve the city’s list of liquor, beer and wine licenses to be effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Approved licenses included Shell Lake Lunchbox; Rae’s Bar & Grill; Synergy (Class A retail, fermented malt and liquor, and cigarette license); The Potter’s Shed; Express Mart; Lakeview Bar & Grill; Klopp’s; Shell Lake Lodge; Corner of Fifth; and Shell Lake Arts Center. The council approved the licenses unanimously.
The meeting closed after Ken Schultz moved and Mike Andrews seconded adjournment; the council adjourned at 7:53 p.m.
