Troy selectmen tentatively approve 2026 fire, forest fire and ambulance budgets; approve ambulance fee update

TROY, N.H. — The Troy Board of Selectmen on Dec. 18 tentatively approved three public-safety budgets for 2026 and adopted an updated ambulance fee schedule after a presentation from Fire Chief Mark Huntoon and Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Huntoon.
Huntoon told the board the main drivers this year were a significant mutual-aid deficit and a 3% cost-of-living increase for ambulance staff to align wages with the Town of Fitzwilliam. The board voted 3-0-0 to tentatively approve the 2026 forest fire suppression budget ($3,844), the 2026 fire department budget ($147,029) and the 2026 ambulance budget ($254,733). The board also tentatively approved an updated ambulance fee schedule as presented.
The board selected Avitar Associates to begin tax-map updates and start a GIS system, approving a three-year agreement covering 2025–2028 updates at $3,506 per year. Town Administrator Jeremy Bourgeois said he received a 2026 unemployment-compensation quote from Primex but the board decided not to purchase coverage and to continue self-funding because of cost and Troy’s low claims history.
Other actions taken by the board included approving a building permit revision and extension for Map 18, Lot 33; approving an intent to cut for Map 4, Lots 3 and 4; approving an over-expenditure in the public assistance account (account #4442) to cover increased demand for rent and housing assistance; reappointing the town’s fire wardens and authorizing them to issue fire permits; and approving payrolls and accounts-payable warrants. The board recessed at 7:55 p.m. to hold a Troy Redevelopment Group public meeting and later entered a non-public session to discuss compensation and legal matters before adjourning at 8:29 p.m.
