Milton ratifies limited police services agreement with Fairfax

The Milton Selectboard voted July 6 to ratify a police services agreement with the Town of Fairfax that will allow Milton officers to provide limited contracted patrol and related law enforcement services to Fairfax on a volunteer overtime basis.
Chief of Police Frank Scalise presented the agreement, which the resolution describes as contingent on officer availability and operational needs. The agreement gives the Milton Chief discretion over staffing to ensure Milton’s own public safety commitments remain the department’s priority and includes a 30‑day termination clause. The initial agreement term begins June 1, 2026, and continues through June 30, 2027, unless terminated earlier under its provisions.
By motion of Betsy Paret, seconded by Leland Morgan, the Selectboard ratified the agreement and authorized the Town Manager and Chief of Police to execute and administer it. The motion carried unanimously.
Town officials said the arrangement supports regional public‑safety coordination while preserving Milton’s coverage priorities; no changes to Milton’s staffing levels or funding were approved at the July 6 meeting.
