Select Board seeks confirmation and removal of rocks placed in Percy Road right-of-way

At the July 29 meeting, Select Board member Charles Goulet raised concerns about rocks placed in the Class VI Percy Road right-of-way. Goulet asked for confirmation that the rocks are located within the public right-of-way and said that, if confirmed, the Town should send a letter ordering the owner to remove the rocks. He noted that the Town’s recourse would include removing the obstruction and placing a lien on the owner’s property to recover removal costs.
The Board did not record a formal vote on the matter during the meeting; Goulet requested staff confirmation of the rocks’ placement in the ROW and suggested following standard enforcement steps if the rocks are in the public way.
Next steps identified were to verify the rock placement relative to the right-of-way monuments and, if confirmed, issue a removal notice and pursue removal and liening consistent with Town practice.
