Saugus Board welcomes firefighter, approves reappointment and lists summer events

The Town Manager reported improvements to meeting audio and welcomed Nathan Zayas to the Saugus Fire Department; Zayas is a Saugus resident who previously served as a firefighter in Holyoke. The Town Manager also announced a community wellness walk on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. at Breakheart Reservation hosted by the Saugus Wellness Collective and the Board of Health; residents may register through the Board of Health and receive complimentary t‑shirts.
The Board approved minutes from its May 5, 2026 meeting (with a correction) and voted 5-0 to reappoint Randy Briand as Veteran’s Flag Officer through May 31, 2027. Selectmen offered several community announcements: Selectman Serino promoted a Strawberry Festival and the Saugus 250th July 4 celebration; Vice Chair Anthony Cogliano and other members offered congratulations and thanks to local departments and businesses, including Prince Restaurant’s 65th anniversary.
