The Greenwood City Council approved a professional services agreement with WGI Incorporated to update the city's GIS zoning map and to allow periodic (annual or biannual) updates, Administration said.
"We just completed our vision agreement of 2025 comprehensive plan," said Steven, who described the GIS update as a small but important addition to keep the publicly posted map current. He told the council the last prior update was 2008 and said using WGI will let the city send one or two parcel changes a year for quick updates rather than redrawing maps in‑house.
Steven said planner hourly rates are in the contract packet (about $120 per hour) and that the work is expected to be a minor ongoing expense: "This is very small addition to the budget," he said. Council members discussed keeping the map posted on the development page as a static (noninteractive) map the public can view.
The council voted in favor of the resolution; meeting discussion indicated the city expects to send small annual updates to WGI for map maintenance and to keep developers and the public informed about zoning changes.
The resolution will allow the city to maintain a current zoning layer without adding a full‑time GIS technician to staff.
