Sugar Hill selectmen approve minutes, sign agreements and schedule Tri‑Town budget meeting

The Sugar Hill Selectmen approved the minutes of their Dec. 30, 2024 meeting and recorded a series of routine administrative actions at their Jan. 6 meeting.
Chris Ellms moved to approve the Dec. 30 minutes; Dick Bielefield seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board set a Tri‑Town meeting in Franconia for next Monday at 4 p.m. to discuss the 2025 Transfer Station and Recreation budgets and asked Town Administrator Jennifer Gaudette to circulate details.
The board approved continuing to use Certified Computer Solutions for 2025 for town IT services and signed the State MS60W audit waiver prepared by COHOS. The board also signed the 2025 Littleton Prosecutors Agreement as presented by the Sugar Hill Police Department. Jennifer Gaudette noted that Community Power Rates are out and will take effect in February 2025; she said the town will post the information in the newsletter and on the town website.
The Selectmen approved use of the Meeting House for a wedding ceremony on Aug. 9, 2025. They were notified that the U199 rebuild of Streeter Pond Road is slated to begin; that item was informational and no town action was recorded.
The board discussed a nuisance ordinance and exterior lighting that is bothering neighbors and agreed to send a letter addressing the issue. Gaudette reviewed several budgets, including cemetery and library accounts; cemetery trustees asked to include a warrant article to complete roadwork in Sunnyside. Selectwoman Margo Connors said she is pursuing an AARP grant to slow traffic on Route 117 and explore funding for planters, pylons and a repainted crosswalk, and she will confirm the crosswalk color.
Resident Fred Von Karls submitted photographs and ideas for welcome signs and will meet with Connors and other sign‑committee members on Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. at the Crapo Building to review designs. With no further business, Mr. Bielefield moved to adjourn, Ms. Connors seconded, and the meeting adjourned at 5:55 p.m. The next regular meeting is Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, beginning at 4 p.m. at Franconia Town Hall, then at 5:15 p.m. at the Crapo Building.
