The Cyanobacteria Committee elected Steve Jacobs as its new president during a brief vote at its April 8 meeting at Stoddard Town Hall.
Steve Jacobs volunteered to serve as president; Helen Tam-Semmens moved to elect him and Patrick Leonard seconded. The motion passed with four of five members voting in favor, and Jacobs was installed as president. Earlier in the meeting the committee unanimously approved the minutes from the previous meeting after a motion by Steve Jacobs and a second from Rex Rodanas.
Rex Rodanas opened the meeting and led roll call; attendees recorded as Steve Jacobs, Patrick Leonard, Helen Tam-Semmens, Rex Rodanas and Naomi Risch. Two members of the public, Bob Maden and Paul Fiondella, attended as observers and commenters.
The committee set its next meeting for Monday, May 19, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall. At the close of the meeting Rex Rodanas thanked Jacobs for taking the president role; Patrick Leonard moved to adjourn, Rex seconded, and the meeting ended at 7:44 p.m.
Actions taken during the session were procedural: approval of prior minutes, election of a president, scheduling the next meeting, and formal adjournment. No committee motions changing policy or submitting materials to the Planning Board were adopted during the meeting; members instead were asked to prepare brief written points for forthcoming outreach.
