Presentations named students of the month across grades and houses, citing classroom leadership, strong attendance and community contributions. Examples cited by presenters included Claudina Ramirez (pre-K), Penelope Ignacio (kindergarten), Baylen Leon (first grade), Iliana Martin (second grade), Cadence Lewis (third grade), Zara Rose Johnson (4K), Casiano Jose (5th grade), Adam Anton (7th grade), Dejaliah Carlos (8th grade), and Soraya Anton Gutierrez (9th grade). Presenters described students’ leadership, academic engagement and future aspirations.
Principals and staff also reported high attendance and instructional work. One presenter said the campus was “maintaining our 90%” attendance, and the board later cited a district-wide number of 88.4% on the report. Staff noted instructional strategies such as structured reteaching, use of vertical whiteboards and collaborative student problem solving observed during walkthroughs. Administrators reported near-term staffing improvements — a technology teacher had arrived and only one kindergarten vacancy remained — and described a new teacher academy intended to support new hires monthly.
Schools also previewed extracurricular and community activities: cross country, volleyball, football, a TOCC college visit and community events; the district also mentioned an upcoming Kitt Peak outreach with sunscopes and telescopes and a planned homecoming event.
Board members praised staff and asked for additional data on behavioral measures and reteach results for future reports. Principals and site staff said they would include more reteach data and follow up on tardy policies and interventions.
