Franklin City students, coaches honored after girls relay wins VHSL state title

Assistant coach Mona Summerlin (speaking for head coach Dennis Summerlin) introduced relay team members and alternates, highlighted the program’s expansion and noted the girls’ relay made school history as the first girls 4x100 relay team to win a state title. Summerlin said the team’s time was 50.3 seconds and named student-athletes who contributed, including Jamari Ricks, Rashawn Ricks, Adonis Wilson Graham, Jasmine Spates, Zaria (surname not given), and others. The meeting showed a silent video clip of the race, and the board offered congratulations.
The board noted growth in middle- and junior programs and praised coaches and parents for supporting increasing participation.
