Slinger RDA reviews sign-code options for downtown, weighing aesthetics and branding

Staff presented sign-code excerpts and examples from other communities and the RDA discussed how sign rules and the Façade Program might be used to shape the Village Center–Downtown’s look; no regulatory changes were adopted.
Community Development Director Dyann Benson asked the RDA for input on components of the Sign Code that apply to the Village Center–Downtown (VC‑D) district, noting the Sign Code is a regulatory tool to shape district aesthetics and branding.
Benson provided an abbreviated summary of each sign-code section and excerpts from the Comprehensive Plan and Redevelopment District #2 Project Plan, and showed examples of signs from other communities. RDA members discussed which sign types and scale they envision for the VC‑D district and noted that the Façade Program could include sign work under certain circumstances.
Staff did not present final sign‑code amendments on Feb. 3; further discussion and drafting of potential text changes were scheduled for future meetings.
