Slinger RDA raises Façade Program cap to $10,000 and tightens timing rule

The Slinger Redevelopment Authority voted Oct. 1 to revise its Façade Program guidelines, increasing the maximum grant award and clarifying eligibility and timing rules.
Administrator Margaret Wilber presented the revised Façade Program Manual and said it reflected changes discussed at last month’s meeting. RDA member Dianne Retzlaff identified a typographical error on page 4 that will be corrected to read “loans” rather than “grants.”
The RDA approved increasing the program cap from $7,500 to $10,000 and confirmed that grants may cover up to 50% of a project’s cost but may not exceed the $10,000 maximum. The authority also agreed that no financial assistance will be considered for projects completed six months or more prior to an application.
Sherry Schaefer moved to approve the corrected revisions; Corey Foerster seconded the motion. The motion passed; the minutes record that the revisions were approved, but the meeting record does not list a vote tally.
The change is intended to provide larger, but still partial, assistance for downtown and façade-focused redevelopment projects. The RDA did not specify an effective date for the revised manual at the meeting.
The RDA handles façade grants for properties within its redevelopment area and will distribute the updated manual when clerical corrections are made and the final document is reprinted.
