The Windham Select Board appointed Michael Knott to the Nesmith Library Board of Trustees on June 29, voting 4-0 to fill the vacancy until the next election. Knott told the board he has lived in Windham for 14 years and has volunteered at the library, restacking books and logging about 120 volunteer hours annually; he said serving as a trustee felt like a "natural next step."
Beth Talbott, chair of the Nesmith Library Board of Trustees, and trustee DJ Withee both spoke in favor of Knott, praising his dedication and hands-on work. Vice Chair Heath Partington moved to appoint Knott; Bruce Breton seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The appointment is an interim fill until the next municipal election, at which point the seat will be decided by voters. The board did not indicate any further procedural steps beyond the appointment vote.
