Chesapeake City reports three March water/sewer violations; council hears repair and inspection updates

Councilmember Lee Adams delivered the town’s water and sewer report at the April 13 meeting, summarizing operational work and a recent compliance issue.
Adams said staff reviewed plans for an emergency filter bypass, completed repairs to the decant system SBR1, and finished a pressure vessel inspection. The Fire Company required assistance after a failed sewage pump; staff replaced two failed inlet pipes and noted continued infiltration of groundwater filling the pump tank. A mixer in the water tank failed because the wrong breaker was installed; Maryland Rural Water identified a leak at the bottom of Mt. Nebo and has scheduled a repair.
Adams also reported, “We did unfortunately have 3 violations during the month of March.” He said the violations were caused by a broken actuator valve that has since been repaired. Council received the County Report with last month’s wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) flows and distributed that report to members.
The council did not take formal action on the items beyond acknowledgments and ongoing operational oversight; staff will continue repairs and monitoring and will report back as needed.
