Grandview aldermen unanimously adopt ordinance authorizing Gateway monument sign agreement with Missouri transportation commission

The Grandview Board of Aldermen on Nov. 11 unanimously adopted Ordinance No. 7,615, approving a license agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission to construct and maintain a Gateway monument sign.

The board placed Bill No. 7,878 on first reading after a motion by Alderman Maloney and later moved it through second reading (motion by Alderman Randolph, second by Alderman Rousey). Alderman Kinder moved for final passage, and the final motion was seconded and approved. The clerk recorded aye votes from Aldermen Kendrick, Turnbull, Randolph, Maloney, Rousey and Jones; there were no recorded no votes or abstentions.

The ordinance was described in the meeting as authorizing execution of a license agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission to allow construction and maintenance of the Grandview Gateway monument sign near a state right-of-way. "It's been a very long process, jumping through hoops, getting approval," the chair said during discussion, noting staff had worked on the project for two to three years.

The board conducted the votes by roll call and declared Bill No. 7,878 passed as Ordinance No. 7,615. The ordinance and the license agreement authorize staff to finalize the agreement with the state commission; the meeting record did not specify a construction timeline, cost estimate or funding source.

No amendments or conditions to the ordinance were recorded during the meeting. The board moved on to other business after adopting the ordinance.
