The Mexico City Council voted March 23 to adopt Bill 20‑26‑11, rezoning property located at 1941/1973/2005 West Monroe Street from I‑1 (light industrial) to R‑1 (single‑family), following staff review and a planning-and-zoning recommendation to approve.
Staff reported that the rezoning request came via a letter from Nicole Beasley and that the proposed use—a single-family dwelling—comports with the city’s comprehensive plan showing low‑to‑medium residential density. Adjacent property owners within 300 feet were notified and staff reported no comments had been received during the notice period.
The council opened a public hearing on the matter, invited speakers to the podium and recorded no public testimony; after closing the hearing the council performed two readings by title and voted to pass the ordinance. The ordinance amends the district map referenced in section 42‑205 of the City Code to change the zoning classification for the described parcels.
The council’s action follows a standard public‑hearing process: staff review, planning and zoning recommendation, public notice and council readings and vote. No amendments or conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The council moved immediately to other agenda items after passage; staff will implement the map amendment in the city zoning records.
