The Municipal Council of the City of Bayonne introduced a set of amendments to the city’s 2026 municipal budget at its adjourned meeting on June 10, 2026, and scheduled a public hearing on those amendments for June 17.
The clerk read the amendments in full, saying the "general revenue surplus anticipated" would increase from $12,100,000 to $12,375,000 and listing several changes to shared‑services and revenue lines, including adjustments tied to the Bayonne Board of Education and Empire Golf. The clerk also read totals for appropriations and deferred charges. Several of the numerical lines in the transcript appear garbled; the council directed that the amendment text be published on the City of Bayonne website on June 11 for public review.
Resident Omar Algari asked during the budget hearing, "Just was the budget posted online?" Algari gave an address of 100 Avenue G when recognized; the council indicated the budget is available on the city website.
After public comment, Council members moved and seconded a motion to close the budget hearing. The motion carried with Council member Booker, Council member Carroll, Council member Perez and Council member LaPalouse recorded as voting "Aye." The clerk read that the amendments would be published on the city website June 11 and that the public hearing on the amendments would be held June 17.
What the council approved on June 10 was the introduction and reading of the amendments and the scheduling of a follow‑up public hearing; no final adoption of the amended budget occurred at this session. The council also noted that some transcripted figures require correction in the published amendment text.
The council adjourned the item after the scheduling vote; the amendments will be available on the City of Bayonne website and considered at the June 17 hearing.
