Board approves vehicles, crosswalk and equipment purchases; event permits and donations also cleared

At its June 17 meeting the Carmel Board of Public Works approved multiple consent and contract items, including fleet purchases, construction change orders, equipment procurement, event permits and a donation to a local nonprofit.
The board approved a $232,555 amendment with Kelly Automotive Group LLC for Chevrolet Traverses and Tahoes. Engineering presented a $139,634.66 change order for raised crosswalks in Hazel Dell and Gray and a $66,768.68 change order for College Avenue streetscape work north of I-465. The board approved a $63,260 amendment for crack sealing in the Plum Creek neighborhood and a $72,154.99 purchase for a Bobcat L65 compact wheel loader (with a trade-in discount), the latter presented by Lane Young, director of utilities.
The board took several event permit requests together and approved items 5a–5c, including one previously tabled request that staff reported had been resolved. The board also approved a resolution to donate seven LifePaks (AEDs) to Heart Reach Carmel Inc., doing business as Bolt for the Heart, for training purposes; staff noted some units are older and may be used for demonstration rather than front-line rescue.
Most items were approved on motion with no recorded opposition. The board’s consent actions were unanimous and taken in sequence as staff presented each request.
