Crystal Edmonson of the Street Department told the board that, "If this gets approved today ... the earliest the work can be started is probably the 2nd or 3rd week in July realistically," noting contractors must order materials before mobilizing. Projected completion was described as the second week in November to align with the Chris Kendall market opening and to provide additional parking capacity.
Corporation counsel Sergei Grichuk said the agreement follows prior bidding and award actions and that the city is asking the board to add and vote the item on at this meeting. Board members moved and seconded the motion; the board voted unanimously to approve the contract.
The board did not provide additional line-item funding details in the discussion. Materials ordering, mobilization timing and the contractor's schedule were identified as the immediate next steps if the city executes the contract.
The vote came as part of three late additions to the agenda; the board approved the add-on and then the contract, allowing staff to move ahead with the procurement and scheduling process.
