Indian Oasis accelerated campus presents attendance, PBIS and blended-learning plan to raise course completion

Mister Fox, presenting for Indian Oasis Middle and High (the district's accelerated campus), told the board the campus will pursue a three-year plan that combines Edgenuity curriculum, real-time data dashboards and a set of attendance and incentive strategies intended to increase course completion and proficiency.
Fox said the campus uses Synergy and Edgenuity dashboards to track attendance, course progress and time-on-task, and that weekly progress reports are sent to guardians. He described course-completion numbers as below the campus's target (378 course completions for about 100 students in a prior year) and said attendance is the primary driver of that shortfall.
"Low attendance rates are the root cause for lack of student success," Fox told the board, and proposed practical changes: an earlier, flexible arrival window and morning "turtle time" to stabilize campus mornings; a 7th-period study skills/enrichment block for credit recovery and electives; and a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) store to reward steady attendance and achievement. He said the campus will seek funding from JOM and local partners to seed the PBIS store.
Fox explained how Edgenuity provides pre/post measures and real-time indicators students can use to monitor their progress and that teachers will use chart-my-data routines and daily conferences so students can explain their learning and next steps. He described blended learning as a model in which teachers act as coaches while students work in Edgenuity and vetted supplemental resources.
The presentation addressed special considerations for the accelerated campus: a substantial share of students are 18 or older (Fox estimated roughly 65'70%), complicating parental contact and FERPA communications, and the campus recently lost a key teacher (Miss Armenta) who will not return. Board members praised the campus's efforts and discussed supports for attendance, incentives and the staffing plan.
The board did not vote on the campus plan at the retreat but asked for continued updates on attendance, course-completion targets and funding for PBIS supports.
